Mohammad Saifuddin  born 1 November 1996 is a Bangladeshi cricketer. In December 2015, he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.Mohammad Saifuddin is a pace-bowling allrounder whose attitude, mental make-up and early performances have excited many in Bangladesh cricket. Born and brought up in Feni, a small town 176km south-east of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, Saifuddin’s life as a cricketer took off when he was included in Bangladesh’s Under-19 side in 2013. He had a productive Under-19 Youth ODI career, taking 45 wickets at 21.75 with one five-wicket haul.

His best performance at the Under-19 World Cup in 2016 grabbed the selectors’ attention and ensured the powers-that-be in the Bangladesh Cricket Board took interest in him.

He had already made his first-class debut in 2014 although, after the 2016 World Cup, injury troubles and being reported for suspect action during the Dhaka Premier League – the domestic List-A competition – held him back. He was cleared later in the off-season, and in the 2017 league, took 25 wickets for Abahani Limited from 16 innings. With the bat in his hand, Saifuddin uses the long handle to good effect and he is strong in front of square on either side of the wicket. If he can be more disciplined with the ball, Saifuddin would be a promising prospect for Bangladesh in the long run.

The under-19 World Cup was one stage on which Mohammad Saifuddin announced his arrival with a flurry of wickets. But few things would have changed when he dons the WC jersey for the senior team in the 2019 WC. A skiddy bowler with a good yorker, Saifuddin bowled really well in the Ireland tri-series which was Bangladesh’s first multi-tournament win in ODIs. With Mashrafe’s career in its last lap, Saifuddin will have to be potent in combination with Mustafizur.
His lusty hitting will be another x-factor that might work for Bangladesh in times of need. He will mostly operate with the new and the old ball, and that is usually where the game is won or lost. A vital cog to his team, there would be eye-balls on Saifuddin.
