This is the best time to get back into roller skating; the weather is warming and rinks are even opening again. Roller skating is a terrific way to get some fitness, have some fun, and look stylish while doing it!

As a result of the activity’s recent spike in popularity, there is currently a global shortage of roller skates. There’s no shortage of ideas for improving one’s own style or expanding one’s skill set right now. I’ve had a lot of fun viewing footage of amazing skaters and becoming inspired by their individual aesthetics.

Lucy Croysdill, Head Coach and Co-Founder of Rolla Skate Club, an inclusive roller skating community that empowers women through education, fitness, fun, and sisterhood, recommends getting in touch with your local skate store for new skaters eager to begin their journey on the rollerskate.

When it comes to getting guidance and staying up to date on the latest products and services, Croysdill says, “There are lots of excellent small businesses, many of which are owned by women.”

Virtual roller skate workshops and classes are offered by Rolla Skate Club, featuring a video on Beginner Skaters’ Tips and Tricks.

Croysdill advises beginners to wear safety gear when learning to roller skate. Wearing a bike helmet, wrist guards, and knee protectors are among her suggestions for novices. Learn how to stop and fall properly, first and foremost. To help you get started, we provide a free video series for beginners!

They’re produced by Skater Socks, and they’re inspired by socks from the 1960s and 1970s that were popular at the time. “Bring back the original American manufactured striped tube socks from the ’60s, make them in the heartland of America exactly like back in the day, make them the world’s most comfortable sock out of cotton,” the brand states on its website. Skatersocks.com and ROLLERSTUFF on Etsy both sell them.

Twinkle Toes Star Toe Stops ($25)

Rollerstuff founder Abbey Roadkill created this one-of-a-kind star-shaped toe stop. She sculpted the first prototype out of clay by hand! Its patent-pending toe stop is comprised of a natural rubber composition that is engineered for high-level performance on a variety of surfaces.

Roller Skate Pom Poms ($13.98+)

They come in two sizes and several hues, and are reminiscent of the ’60s-inspired fashion. A nylon cord secures them to your skates after they’ve been handmade from julaCrochet by skilled craftspeople.
