Taijul Islam  born 7 February 1992) is a Bangladeshi left-arm orthodox spinner who plays for the Bangladesh national cricket team. He made his international debut for Bangladesh in September 2014.Both those huge achievements mentioned earlier happened against Zimbabwe and after that series, he was offered the central contract. Since then, he has been a regular part of the Bangladesh squad though he hasn’t always been a starter. Spin is a common commodity in Bangladesh, more so the left-arm tweakers and hence the competition is very stiff for spots. Taijul does have the promise but the margin for error is so less with the amount of talent that he has to compete with.

Taijul Islam who hails from Natore, a northwestern district in Bangladesh, came into prominence with 55 wickets in the 2013-14 first-class season, winning himself first a place in the Bangladesh A side on its tour to the West Indies in May 2014, before making a second trip to the Caribbean a few months later, for the senior side.

He began playing in his hometown, before playing in the Rajshahi league and eventually, like every aspiring cricketer, played in the Dhaka league system. He made his first-class debut for Rajshahi Division in the 2010-11 season. He played just one and two matches in the next two seasons, before becoming a regular choice for his divisional side in 2013-14. He got wickets in buckets, taking seven five-wicket hauls in 19 innings. He has also played two seasons of the BPL, taking 11 wickets in 12 games, all for Rajshahi.

In May 2022, he was included in the Test and ODI squad of Bangladesh for West Indies tour. He was not included in the playing XI for the Test series and in the first two ODI matches. He was included in the playing XI for the third ODI, making his comeback in ODI since he last played against Zimbabwe in March 2020. In the match, he picked up his first five-wicket haul conceding 28 runs, his best bowling figure in ODIs. His bowling helped Bangladesh sweep the ODI series by a 3–0 margin.
