Sabbir Rahman born 22 November 1988 is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is from Rajshahi and besides the national team, he plays for Rajshahi Division and the BPL. He is an all-rounder: a right-handed batsman and legbreak bowler. He was the highest run scorer for a test playing nation in the 2016 Asia Cup and became man of the tournament. He captained the Bangladesh Under 19’s team. He made his international debut for Bangladesh in February 2014

Rahman made his T20I debut for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in February 2014 and scored 26. He had to wait till November to play his first ODI where he scored an unbeaten 44. His promising start in the ODI format prompted the selectors to name him in the 2015 World Cup squad despite lack of experience. He had a decent outing Down Under tallying 182 runs in six innings. He had earlier turned heads with his big-spinning legbreaks in the Dhaka club scene as well as for the Bangladesh U19 side in the 2010 U19 World Cup, but he chose the Guangzhou International Cricket Stadium to launch himself.

He continued to flourish in T20 cricket for the next two seasons but his lack of runs in first-class and one-day cricket held him back. Finally he was chosen to play for Bangladesh in 2014 in his favoured format, but it wasn’t a great start. He made his ODI debut towards the end of the year and although not the finished article nor a proven player at this level, he was chosen in their 2015 World Cup squad.

On 29 November 2016, Sabbir Rahman, along with Al-Amin Hossain, were fined 30% and 50% of their BPL contracts respectively by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for “serious off-field disciplinary breaches. On 1 January 2018, Rahman was stripped of his central contract, barred from playing international cricket for 6 months, and fined Tk 20 lakh (US$25,000) by the BCB for an incident that happened on 21 December 2017.On 28 July, the BCB started investigations after Rahman allegedly threatened two fans on Facebook following an ODI loss to West Indies. The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) is investigating this incident.
