Rony Talukdar (born 10 October 1990) is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is a right-handed batter. He made his international debut for Bangladesh in July 2015. Rony became a proficient opening batsman in domestic cricket at the wrong time. Tamim Iqbal has been a constant presence for Bangladesh, with his opening partner changing quite regularly, and Rony was the most talked about cricketer before Bangladesh launched their long home season after the 2015 World Cup.

But Soumya Sarkar was preferred ahead of him, and never looked back. Rony sat out the home series against Pakistan and India before finally getting a chance to bat in national colours, making only 21. But chances keep coming in Bangladesh cricket, so he still has time in hand. He fell into a lull of form after being dropped from the squad before retaining some ground.

In the 2014-15 first-class season, Rony Talukdar aggregated 591 runs in the first three innings. Despite brilliant performances with the bat for two successive seasons, he couldn’t make it into the Test squad. On 7th of July, 2016, Rony made his international debut in a T20I game against South Africa in Dhaka where he scored 21. That has been the only chance provided to him by the selectors. With one slot at the top almost pinned to Tamim, Talukdar faces stiff competition from Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes for the other spot. There is no doubt about his talent, but the important factor is if he can be consistent at the international stage whenever he gets an opportunity.

In March 2023, Rony Talukdar  returned to Bangladesh’s T20I squad after 8 years as he was selected to play in the series against England. In the same month, he was also named in Bangladesh’s ODI and T20I squad for their series against Ireland. On 27 March 2023, in the 1st T20I, Rony scored his maiden half-century in international cricket in just 24 balls, recording the third fastest fifty by Bangladeshi batter in T20Is. His score of 67 runs off 38 balls helped Bangladesh post 207/5, their third highest total in T20Is.
