Nurul Hasan Sohan was born 21 November 1993 is a Bangladeshi cricketer who represents Bangladesh in international stage in all formats. Sohan is well known in Bangladesh for his keeping skills and great flexibility. Sohan is a wicket-keeper batter and plays as a right-handed batter lower down the order. His main role is a hard-hitting finisher. He was born in Khulna, Bangladesh. In July 2022, he was named as the captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) team.

Nurul made his T20I debut in January 2016, against Zimbabwe, one of many experiments that the selectors indulged in ahead of the Asia Cup and the World T20. His ODI debut was equally accidental as Mushfiqur sustained a hamstring injury on the tour of New Zealand in December. Nurul was only the fifth wicketkeeper to make an ODI debut since Mushfiqur’s career began in 2006.

Nurul spent three years at the Under-19 level, playing in two World Cups in 2010 and 2012. He broke through in the 2013-14 season, making 489 runs in the National Cricket League, averaging 81.50 with two centuries. It earned him a place in the Bangladesh A side and then a reputation as a solid performer in domestic cricket. After a decent tournament for Sylhet Super Stars in the 2015 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, Nurul was selected for the T20I series against Zimbabwe in January 2016. He played a late cameo and scored 30 off just 17 deliveries in the third game of his debut series, but that innings couldn’t stop Zimbabwe from beating Bangladesh. Nurul made his ODI debut in December 2016 against New Zealand following a hamstring injury to Mushfiqur Rahim. Similarly later on that tour injury to Rahim allowed Nurul to play his first Test for Bangladesh in Christchurch.

In June 2021, he was selected to play for Bangladesh across all formats for their tour to Zimbabwe, since he had last played an international match in 2018. He was originally replaced by Mushfiqur Rahim for the T20I series, after he had been one of the leading performers in the 2021 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League.

In September 2021, Nurul Hasan was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
