Najmul Hossain Shanto born 25 August 1998 is a Bangladeshi cricketer.Nazmul Hossain Shanto emerged from an unusual source in Bangladesh cricket – the schools. A double-century in a school one-day match in Rajshahi grabbed the attention of age-group scouts, who quickly drafted the left-hander into Bangladesh’s Under-17s. Soon, he graduated to the Under-19s in 2013, and went on to play two World Cups at that level, in 2014 and 2016.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto is the second Bangladeshi to score a century in domestic Twenty20s after Sabbir Rahman. In December 2015, he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was also selected for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and scored the most runs (180 runs in 5 matches) from Bangladesh cricket team.An elegant left-hander with a high back-lift, Nazmul Hossain plays for Rajshahi domestically since November 2014. He hit the headlines at a very young age, when he struck a double-century in a one-day match at the school level. The southpaw was selected for the Under-19 World Cup, 2014 at the age of 15. In the 2015 season, he registered his maiden first-class century playing for Rajshahi Division.

It was in the year 2016 when Nazmul Hussain’s career started to blossom. It started with the Under-19 World Cup which was held in his home country – Bangladesh – where he received back-to-back man of the match awards against South Africa and Scotland. He aggregated 259 runs which helped his team finish third in the tournament. In the same year, he was picked by the then defending champions Comilla Victorians for the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. He scored a fifty on his debut game against the likes of Tymal Mills, Taskin and Mohammad Nabi.

With Mominul Haque ruled out with a rib injury on the day before the second Test in Christchurch, Nazmul was drafted in to the playing XI, becoming the 84th Bangladeshi to play Test cricket.
