Kamrul Islam Rabbi (born 10 December 1991) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who has played for Barisal Division from the 2008–09 season.Kamrul Islam Rabbi is a Bangladeshi fast bowler who came into the limelight on the back of impressive performances in the Under-19 team since 2009. He took four-wicket hauls against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, a feat that earned him a place in the team for the 2010 U-19 World Cup. He had made his first-class debut at a very young age for Barisal Division against Sylhet Division in 2008.

He played in the 2010 U-19 World Cup after a good 2009 lead-up campaign, then returned to the first-class grind, and had some moments of success in the NCL and later in the Dhaka Premier League.

Born and brought up in Barisal, Rabbi wanted to be a forest officer growing up. It made sense as the Sundarban mangrove forest was nearby. He was spotted by former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud, who drafted him for Old DOHS Sports Club in the 2007-08 Dhaka Premier League. Rabbi had to be given proper bowling boots because he hadn’t prepared to play in the top domestic competition.

In November 2015, he was named in the One Day International squad for Bangladesh’s series against Zimbabwe. On 20 October 2016, he made his Test debut against England. In August 2018, he was one of twelve debutants to be selected for a 31-man preliminary squad for Bangladesh ahead of the 2018 Asia Cup. In November 2021, he was named in Bangladesh’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Pakistan. After 47 first-class games, Rabbi made his Test debut against a touring England team in October 2016. All he managed was a lone wicket in the 2-match series which was spin-dominant. He didn’t have a great time with the ball visiting New Zealand in early 2017. He hasn’t made his mark at the international arena yet, but with age on his side, it is just a matter of time before he tastes success.
